Need help with adjusting power level of Amp Down

just hooked up my 10w6v2 to a JL Audio 500.1, but the installer turned it up pretty high and now the sub is overpowering my mids/highs.

This sub hits so **** hard that I can't even turn the volume up pass 1/2 the gain.

Here are the adjustable knobs

-center frequency

-infra frequency

-boost control

-"Q" ???

-filter frequency

Which one will lower the amount of power/wattage going to the Subwoofer?

And what do the other ones do??

Gain does not equal volume, and you should read the manual.

Could be settings on your headunit, but the "Gain" or "Input Voltage" dial can be adjusted to reduce or increase the amplitude of the signal.

Then reading the manual as well as the JL online tutorials would be a good start.....
So you've wasted all your time replying when you could have actually spent that time answering my questions. People like you ruin these forums. They are here so ppl can ask questions and have them answered, not for you to tell ppl to go figure it out on their own.

I've never had any problems getting help on this forum. Everyone has been very helpful until now.

Turn the gain knob on the amp down. You will hear people say that the gain knob is not a volume knob. They mean that you shouldn't treat it like a volume knob and crank it. But it is perfectly safe to turn the gain down to lower the volume on your sub.

If your box is built correctly, you shouldn't need any equalization on the amp. Turn the boost control down. All it does is add distortion. Turn this knob down before touching the gain, as they might have turned it up to make it sound louder and "better"

When did I say for you to figure it on your own? There is nothing to figure out, it's already done for you. Please show me where I said for you to figure it on your own, if not stop making false accusations. I pointed you in the right direction...the manual...who would have thunk that actually picking it up and reading it would be beneficial.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I also mentioned the jl online tutorials. I think they are very good, especially when you are first learning. I was trying to help you, if you cannot see that, it is not my fault. I guess actually having to go to the website without a link in this thread was a little too much //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif .

You might as well reply to every thread on these forums and say, "go read your manual". You've replied 3 times with your so called "help" but it hasn't helped me one bit. I bought this amp used. I have no manual.

Did you try going to their website? Guess not, instead of whinning why don't you first check out the advice before crapping all over it. You may learn a little in the process. Here I will make it a little easier for you.

I appreciate you wasting your time, but XanderMoser has already answered my questions. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that you're a female that is pmsing??

Not a female......but if that is you childish comeback, be it. Shows a good deal about you. Next time don't be such a lazy you know what and try to help yourself out. People don't mind helping people who are willing to do their part in learning. I put the links on there to show you that just by going to one website you could have picked up the answers you needed. Guess you were too ignorant to even figure that out.

ha ur fem pmsing , tisk tisk
