Need help with a disagreement

If the gains are set correctly, you shouldn't have an issue. If you are sending a clipped signal, you will probably damage your equipment eventually.

 
Indeed. If you "max out" the amp you will be clipping the signal and thus damaging the subs.

However, you can set the amp to get the most out of it with out clipping and you would be fine. The down side is that requires the use of an Oscope.

 
Ok thank you for the very fast responses. Unfortunately I dont have an Oscope. I do have a DMM. any idea what I should set my gain at?
