I have a set of pioneer 720prs components. I have a old school ppi pc2100 running them at 4ohms. I have them running off the crossovers provided in the set. i have a couple of questions, and would really appreciate the help. My first problem is that my speaker sounds like it it bottoming out sometimes, this happens mostly on rap and hip hop songs. The midbass is steller with all other songs, classic rock etc. I can watch the mid really excurt out to when this happens.
Most people are saying they can run 150w rms to these components with no problem. My ppi is rated at 100w rms and is only a little past halfway up. I feel like my speakers are going to blow when this happens. Sound gets muddy and fludders.
The words never distort that i can tell when this happens. The sound it tight and snappy on all other notes. I have a alpine 7897 hu and i tried to set the crossovers and eq on the hu and it did not do anything for the problem. It seems like if the speakers can not play this low why are the crossovers letting them? So my second question is anyone familiar with this hu and can tell me how to set the crossovers so this wont happen? By the way my doors are matted really well. Thanks for all the help. Sorry to run on and on but i am puzzled
