first little background,

my car is a fiesta 2008 (almost same size in exterior and interior than a Honda Fit, just for reference), Im a noob in decent car audio set ups.

my car is mostly used to commute to work 30 minutes drive, Im 80%heavy metal, rock and the rest is 80's pop music (got almost 40yo I cannot help LOL)

so far my only upgrade in the stock audio system is my HU, im running a pioneer DEH-3300, you got the idea that Im into budget set up

I got two different scenarios right now, for me 1st would be the one I may ending doing, but I can do the 2nd in phases 6 months period:

1 SCENARIO: if i want to run a nice pair of speakers with just the HU power, what would be me a nice option? (no amp at all)

for the front speakers:

- I have heard that Alpine sps 610C 6.5 component would sound great with no amp and they are 80rms , tweeter is silk dome 1" and in line crossover

- but also I have read in a lot of forums that Cerwin Vega are the ones for heavy metal music, in this case what I can buy is the CERWIN VEGA HED65C, this speakers are 60 rms and tweeter is silk dome 25mm with and external 12db crossover

for the rear speakers:

Im debating between a coaxial speakers of the same brand choosen or some polk Dxi or run stock speakers depending to your comments and advices.

2 SCENARIO:

- getting any of those component systems and a small 2-channel amplifier for the front speakers, into budget prices, what would be a nice amp for this application?

- would those component brands mentioned in the 1 scenario sound really much better that a set of coaxial polk Dxi speakers?

if negative I'd just run polk dxi coaxial in front but Im pretty positive that they are 100rms they need to be play it with an ampli to get thebest of them, right?

if Im totally wrong in my selections or understandings feel free to make any recommendation according to my car size, music selection and time driving it.

thanks in advance

front speakers budget $100

rear speaker budget $50-60

hybrid audio imagine series they will work as coaxial or comp set so you can try both and at $220 each nothing in that price comes close

and don't bother with rears
I agree with this. The Imagine would sound decent without an amp for starters (provided they are properly installed with good seals). Then upgrade with an amp when you can. After that, add a single 10" sub and amp to run it (or when you get an amp, get a 4 channel that can be bridged to a sub).

I installed a HAT Imagine set with a Hertz ESD 250 10" sub all ran off an Alpine MRP-F600 inside a 1939 coupe show car (small interior). it was simple and sounded great. something similar would make you very happy.

thanks for the input

I went to check those speakers on their site, and they look pretty good, but right now they are outta my budget

I need to keep in the low $100 or less if possible

Amazon.com: Morel Maximo 6 1/2 inch 2 way component system: Electronics

These are a awesome speaker on a budget

and for the rear depending on your size you could run these

Amazon.com: Morel Maximo 69C 6x9-Inch Coaxial Speakers: Electronics

or these Amazon.com: Morel Maximo 6C 6.5-Inch Coaxial Speakers: Electronics

I have them and they are amazing , everyone that hears them loves them and they **** all over the alpines you are lookin at.

The hybrids are better, but these are in your budget .

Now as far as a amp there are lots of cheap options that would sound good on these. What is your amp budget?

wow, thanks for your comments, the main idea is not to spend more than 200 dls total, including installation (father of family here LOL)

well if I spend 150-160 dls in front speakers then they should be sound great without an amp (or maybe a cheap one + 40 dls instalation at the end of the year)

or spend 100-120 in front speakers coaxials or decent set of comp and spend the rest in a 8" sub and a small 4-chan amp

PD: those morel looks sweet, are they better thank polk MM series or Memphis MC?

PD2: those cdt speakers are OEM fit in most cars? looks like a big magnet

yes the cdt comps will fit in the oem position, but there is also a slim line too. now if you want used i've got a set for you .hertz mids, cdt crossovers, and dd tweets .pm me if interested they should work nicely and they are very loud, also can take an amp to.

nothing will "sound great" without adequate amplification. the HU powering speakers is a huge limitation. but still worth getting component speakers for the ability to locate the tweeter.

note that installing components requires some extra effort and time. well worth it, but it requires you run more wire.

the Morel speakers linked are the best choice i've seen listed so far in your price range. maybe the new Massive Audio speakers.

Those morels are great, love mine. I'm on a budget too as i am also a family man and my wife hates me spending money on stereo equipment. just buy alittle at a time . like hope said though u gotta have a amp.

thanks for your patience

I think I will do this in parts between the next 3 months,

first a nice set of speakers, I'll keep an eye on Morel maximo, and lets hope find them less that the actual price $130

then with my xmas bonus a 4-ch amp with a 8" sub

thanks for your help

The price changes all the time on them, lol. Evertime i recomend them they jump back up it seems. When i got mine they were $85 less than a month ago but only for 2 days. Then they went to $130 . When I posted them they were down to $113. Just keep checking on them.

hey CAvi, and what about those coax morel maximo? they are at $54

is it really worth to spend $80 to get the comp set?

do they would be better than polk db or infinity kappa?

I think componets are worth the extra price, cause you can raise the soundstage. And the crossover seperates the frequencys .

They would sound better than either of these^^. They are comparable to the hertz esk165
