Tryin to design a box for my nightshade and I'm having a little difficulty. When using an aero port calculator does each port need to be the length stated in the calculator or is that combined length needed? Just to clarify bc I'm confused as hell, I'm building a 5 cube box tuned to 30 using 2 6" ports and the calculator says it needs to be 29.48 inches. So does each port need to be that long?

that's what I was afraid of. could I just use 1 6" port instead of 2 then? or would that not give enough port area?

Probably have some port noise with a single 6". If you increased box volume, port length will go down.

the length of aeros becomes a problem sometimes, slot port may be the way to go, maybe a removable one if your trying to change tuning.

I'd just go slot port, it's a pain to tune low with adequate port area using aeros...and since you're doing a smaller than normal box for an 18" sub, it becomes even more of a problem. A single 6" aero is not enough for an 18" NS. I'd try to get 70-80in^2 of port if doing a slot port...it'll be long.

I'm doin the biggest box sundown suggests for the ns. And I dont wanna do slot port bc of the added weight so I just raised the tuning to 35 so the aero's would fit. Will the ns still perform well at 35?

it should do ok. also male sure you have enough space between the back wall and the ports

With my new design im gonna have roughly 10 inches between them. That good enough?
