Just got 1 soundstream t7.102 700w rms so I.want to wire it down to 1ohm so I need to find the right amp . I've looked at the sounstream amps and I'm not sure I like any of them. There is a local shop by me and he is pushing a RE audio dtx 1600 at me real hard for 250. I can't find a lot about this amp online because its new so I'm not sure if that's a good price. So if anyone knows about this amp or one that would work for me please get back to me.

TBH, new RE is a huge crap shoot. If you're looking at 250 for a budget, I'd consider something that's also gentle on your electrical system and will definitely do its rated power @1ohm. Consider the PPI P1000.1 or even the power series monoblocks if you've got the extra space to hold them. Dollar for dollar, they're what I consider the best bang for the buck in the budget new amp market (ie not used).

Just keep in mind that if you plan to go ported for the enclosure, you'll want an amp that does more than your sub's rating to accomodate for whatever box rise you'll experience, so look for somewhere around 1KW-1.5KW for that SS.

I was also looking at massive but I've heard bad things ablout them too. I would spend up too 400 but now more than that I just want to ut a good amp on this set up ive always went cheap on my amps and never really been happy. What do you think about soundstream amps? I just keep hearing there are better amps.

as far as I know (my best friend is a sales rep at my distributor) RE still makes a great product none of there amps have a high return rate actually they barely have any return rate from what I am told. very reliable amps. as for massive I have it in my wife's car and it performs flawlessly, sounds great. I have a nx5 in her car pushing to older re sr 10's in a box by STAR MOUNTAIN and it really surprised me for being such a small amp. the only thing I have ever heard bad about massive is they heat up if not installed in optimum conditions I.e. running at full tilt or close to it in a high heat environment might make it go into protection and it will only hold it rated ohm load nothing lower unlike re which i have ran at .25ohms and until my electrical crapped out it was pushing it. If it was me and you only needed about 700wrms for a sub and also wanted to eventually run a 4ch for your highs i would bite the bullet and go for massive nx5 and get it done if you want a bigger system go with re (my favorite) but I also heard really good thing from sundown and some other brands out there.
