Need help picking the correct sub

My computer system's subwoofer cannot handle the power it is offered. I would like to repace the 8 inch speaker with a unit that will not bottom out as easily.

I have a Acoustic Authority 3 pc. system which includes an 8 inch sub and 100w dedicated to the sub. The box is ported and about .65 to .70 cubic feet.

I am looking for more thump than clarity.

Let me know what 8 inch car audio subwoofers I should take a look at. Also, do I want a 2 ohm sub or a 4 ohm subwoofer? Finally, what are the dangers to installing a more powerful subwoofer? Could it draw too much power and blow the amp? I do NOT want to blow the integrated amp.

You'll want to remove the driver and measure it's impedance (it may be written on the back) that will let you know what impedance replacement to get (a high power woofer will not draw more power from the amp if it has the same impedance, it will simply handle more power)

If the original speaker is 4 ohm then you have lots of choices, a DD1008 is one driver you definitely won't bottom out with a 100w intergrated amp, other drivers from parts express for example may also prove suitable for a less $.

Thanks for your help, one more thing... Say I buy a 200w RMS sub, since I have a 100w amp will that sub be extremely underpowered?

Maybe an AA 8" assasin?

There's no such thing as being underpowered, running 100rms to a 200rms subwoofer is fine. But look into the Tang Band 8" subwoofers on http://www.partsexpress.com

I'll be honest I've come to the conclusion that if it ain't broke don't fix it, cause I'm worried a new sub would not be tuned correctly and therefore wouldn't perform well. When it does blow, I'll definately consider the Tang Band and the Assassin
