Need help for in choosing the correct amp for my 2 12" subs.

I bought a used ported box with 2 12" kicker 2ohms subs, model # 07DC122.

When I initially purchased an amp, I got a mono kicker amp for it, and I'm afraid I got one thats too weak. It said 500w max on the box, but the subs are rated for 600w peak for a total of 1200w peak.

Even though the amp says 500w max, I read that it normally runs at 250ishw. The model is DX 250.1

The other day I saw a Boss Phantom monoblock with a rated 1500w max output, and I'm wondering if I should take back the weaker kicker for this monoblock.

Now here's the problem. My 2 12"subs sound just fine with the kicker amp, I even turn down the bass because I don't it kicking too much, but I'm wondering if I will damage the amp over time. As well I'm wondering if the monoblock is a decent choice. If its too strong (Im sure I can turn it down). Id have to run a new power wire as the one I currently have is only rated for max 650w.

What do you think and what would you do?

Go by RMS not peak wattage, stay away from boss amps IMO poor quality. Save your money for a quality amp between 600-800rms and 4ga power and ground wires.

Well right now the kicker amp is already installed, but I can return it for the cheaper boss temporarily till I get a better amp. And the certificate in the kicker box rated it at only 260rms. and its powering the 2 12" of which says it should take 600rms. Just don't know if it will damage the amp before I return it.

those subs are 300w rms per sub, so you have a total of 600w rms

that boss will put out less than 300watts so if you buy that the kicker amp that you have is actually more powerful than that Boss amp

for inexpensive amps you can get the audiopipes

heres the breakdown if you want at 2ohms what i would suggest is the apsm 1500 but you can pick from below

apsm 1300 2 ohm 600watts

apsm 1500 2ohms 1000 watts

I like the apsm 1500 since when you run these you wont get the full 1000watts probably 700-750 watts which will be good for your current box, and if you decide to upgrade your sub to run at 1 ohm you have 1500watts on this amp. price os apsm 1500 is around $125

Wish I had known the boss is less ampage, im about to return it since ill get 50 back. Ill just run it for a few weeks, then return it and order in that one you suggested.

Sorry I'm such a noob, but I think in my next ride I might upgrade to 15"s lol, it gets pretty addictive.
