I drive a 2002 BMW 325xi and just put in the following amp over the weekend:

There were 5" JL Audio speakers already in the car when I got it. The factory rear speaker was starting to go, and that went soon after the amp was in. Then yesterday the drivers side JL speaker started smoking and went, now the passenger side just went. So I am in need of new speakers, however I don't really understand all the Watts and Ohms numbers and would like help in choosing speakers that can withstand the power of the amp and wont go out like the ones I had in went out. I'm looking to keep costs down if possible as well but also don't want to compromise too much sound quality. A friend suggested I put in speakers in each door - which would make sense considering I got a 4 channel amp. But the Ohms and Watts thing is confusing to me and I want to be sure I get the proper speakers.
Thanks,
Tim
