need help fast please (audiolife the great)

the higher number in what? sensitivity? if its sensitivity it means it can get louder with less power but it doesnt mean it will be louder over all as power handleing and enclosure all play a hand in it...what are you wanting to know?

ok i was at the adire looking at the specs with a friend and we were disagreeing on what you want to look for. SPL 87.2 dB @ 1W/1m he was saying the higher the number the better i thought the lower was better thanks very much

it was in this spec sheet

PARAM VALUE PARAM VALUE

Re 2.9 ohms Le 2.12 mH

Qms 6.5 Mms 125 grams

Qes 0.41 Cms 0.47 mm/N

Qts 0.39 Rms 2.54 N*s/m

Fs 21 Hz Sd 481 cm^2

Vas 151 liters BL 10.80

Xmax 15.8 mm one way EBP 51.2

SPL 87.2 dB @ 1W/1m No 0.37%

Pmax 375W per voice coil; 650W total to the driver Distortion

if you are using a small amp it makes a difference but i usually throw that out the window because companies use different ways to get the numbers and remember this the environment in which they are played in is just as important as the woofer and box.....things like transfer function resenence.....what are you wanting to put the woofers in? what are you comparing the adires too? which model?

we were comparing them too polk audio. both in sealed with a 500 watt amp. i was just trying to show him the speaker every body raves about a the speaker i have my eye on . and infinity perfect

that is the shiva if i am not mistaken correct? for the money it is hard to beat take a woofer like a infinity perfect which costs more 25-125 more depending where you get it...the perfect will sound slightly better but have less low end output than the lil plain lookin driver and over all the woofer sounds great really it isnt the most musical but it is better than some woofers i listened too that were supost to be. all i can really tell you is a friend bought a shiva for his home theater it beat a definitive 15" powered sub and when you put a cd in it still sounds awesome i was impressed

personally i would buy the shiva over the other 2. reasons are i dont like polk at all lol-could write a book about this- and i like low low bass the shiva has great displacement where in my eyes the next step would be a brahma 12 or an idmax to get better performance and those cost more..another set up would be the L5 solo's but i dunno how they perform with 500 watts as my friend has a set of L7 10's on 500 watts and has complaints.......until he got a jl amp (other amp was a rockford 500) that is why i think the shivas are a good value others to consider are jl w0's w3's and image dynamics idq woofers......but they wont get as low as the shiva but i think the idq sounds better lol - that is an opinion-

i think my friend is conisdering the shiva now. i am going with the tempest and a jbl 1200.1 i think that will bang pretty hard. wish i could afford the bramahas. thanks audiolife for all your help
