Hi guys,
I'm new to site and have very very little knowledge. Just basic if anything. So need some info from the experts before i potentially shall out more money. I upgraded my speakers on my 2013 TRD doubble cab tacoma. Kept stk head unit, and replaced speakers with alpine type r speakers and components. Shop also added a mrv 300 digital 4 channel alpine amp @ 50 watts. the shop also dyno matted my doors. From what I know- this amp is pretty basic but gets the job done and works for my budget. For what i wanted the install sounds great and is what i wanted. Did not go with a sub since i have a toddler in the back and really wasnt looking for it. I was told with my setup i could still get mild bass. Like said my truck sounds great- anything better than what i had.
so obviously the shop says i can upgrade, and currently the amp i have doesnt allow me to get full potential out of my speakers from what the shop owner told me. He says if i want- he will buy my amp back full price and let me upgrade to a 5 channel Arc Audio which i think is a 80 watt. The upgrade will cost me 300 bucks more since i think the amp is 500. I will get exact model info, i think i saw on amazon that they do retail for 500. I'm thinking I want to do this as i know i want to get most out of my speakers- they are loud but shop is saying they are only working at about 50% and i can gain more. Plus if i ever wana add a sub- I will have a 5 channel. In addition, I noticed the amp was running a little warm since I assume im running it loud. So if i get a bigger amp it wont run as hot? I also wanted to get a amp with a fan or have them add a fan- the location for this amp is behind my passanger seat and does not get much air flow.
With all you guys being the experts and having way more knowledge than me, I would appreciate any feed back! Any other brands to consider that wont break my pocket? I've herd arc audio is a good amp- what do you guys suggest? The shop owner is telling me arc audio is a great amp better than alpine pdx. I'm leaning towards upgrading just wana have more knowledge before I do. I know the shop is in it to make a buck and going to push what they have in stock etc. This shops seems really good/ honest and reviews of place are good so I dont feel this shop is trying to pull a fast one. Just trying to be smart about future purchase.
Thanks!
