ok so i have a Pioneer DEH-P8400BH headunit brand new just got it a week ago. i planned on putting my subwoofer in an American Bass VFL Extreme 12" wired down to 2 ohms which will then be connected to my amp a Hifonics Brutus 1500D, i got a 4 gauge wiring kit disconnected my battery and got to work. i wired my ground to my body by my spare tire well, then attached my power and remote power through my car to the front tucked it under the panels and carpet. wired up the remote line to the blue/white wire. ran my power through my firewall into my engine bay to my battery gave about 6" of cable then put my inline fuse, connected my power to the battery and moved on. (the battery is connected at this point but amp was not hooked up yet)

wired my rca and ran down the other side of the car. everything was looking good i had high hopes. put my sub and box in wired down to 2 ohms its a DVC 4ohm sub. hooked my amp up plugged the rcas in ran speaker wire to my box everything was hooked up. went to start bumpin and i put my iphone on and nothing comes out of my sub. i hear one pop noise when i start my headunit up. i went to check my amp out everythings good powers on. i got my multi meter out and tested my power, ground, remote everythings fine there. checked my rcas and im not sure if i tested them right but got nothing at all. went to car tunes and was told my rca might be broken somewhere so i got a new one and without tucking it through my panels i just wired it straight back to my amp and plugged it in. same thing one pop and then no bass. i checked my headunits settings cause i know i can control my sub through it, everything was one LPF on to 80hz.

thought maybe my amps rca terminals are messed up opened the amp up and it looks like its brand new. so now comes my question. is my headunits rca output just screwed up? anything else it could be? im going to try my friends headunit tomorrow and see if it works. oh the sub does work but on my buddys system tried that today.

id try a different location for the ground for the amp..running rear ch on the rca..some hu have a switch also /try reset button on hu as well.i installed a new sony hu dd, and didnt get anything out until i hit reset button on the hu?try that

so change the groung, and reset button ok got it. what do you mean running rear channel on the rca?

i have a subwoofer connection the left and right i believe. i dont think i have a front / rear but its possible .

i didnt look up your hu, but alot of hu have front and rear/switchable subwoofer rca connections
make sure you are connected to low level Input on the amp from the hu,and make sure that the lpf switch is on also for running mono/bridged

oh yea im connected to that. i dont have a lpf switch but more of a knob that i have to guesstimate where it should be tuned to but im pretty sure im close to 80hz and my amp is a mono block. ill try putting my rcas into the diffrent outputs on the headunit tomorrow and see how that works
