Need help designing box.

Hey guys.

I want to build a box for a single 12" Sound Splinter RPL. Around 1.8^3 @ 30

The problem is, I have a 1998 4Runner, the back seats are slanted back quite a bit and I'd like to make it fit snug against the back seats so I can get the most trunk space possible.

I need to measure to get exact dimensions, but heres the basic idea.

How do I determine the volume of the enclosure with the slant?

find the volume of the rectangular portion first, then find the volume of the triangle...i believe it is (1/2 b x h) x width of box. Add the two volumes together

well..measure the space you are putting it in, then figure out the volume you want and make a base set of dimensions. then cut the wood, glue/screw it together...apply adhesive and carpet

the hardest part for me was getting the **** cutouts round...i used a compass to draw a round hole, but when i was cutting it out i couldn't make my hands follow the line:crap:

Do I cut the bottom piece at an angle and then attach the side or cut the side at an angle and attach it to the bottom?

I think I'll do the latter.

you circular saw should have an angle adjustment on the bottom plate....make sure you calculate the correct angles b4 cut

Well I just got an email telling my my 80sq feet of deadener has arrived on my porch.

My deck should be getting there later today too. Woots!

I'll design a box and have some of you guys look at it before I even think about cutting some wood. lol. Just in case.

Good idea.

Instead of drawing just lines, actually draw the thickness of the board. It will help with the measurements of everything instead and give you an image of how everything will look.
