i recently bought a pair of kenwood kfc x 173's and i have to return them due to them being the wrong size. I was debating whether or not i should just get the same speakers in the right size, or if i should order a pair of jbl 6 1/2 inch speakers. Im generally ignorant when it comes to this stuff, so could you guys help me out?

my budget is 100 - 150. Also, im just looking for tweeters right now. I just got a crappy civic and im not gonna be one of those annoying d-bags with a sound system worth more than my car lol. Also the sales person i talked to did say that these particular kenwoods are better than any jbls, although they didnt carry jbls so i could see why he would say that haha. He let me hear them and they sounded pretty good, but as i said im generally ignorant when it comes to this stuff. So you think i should go with the jbls?

Oh okay. No, in fact im going to have to order online considering no stores in my area carry jbl. Also, is it necessary to get a crossover? Whats the difference if i dont?

Component sets will also have crossovers. They keep the tweeter from playing too low and the mid from playing too high which generally makes for a better sound.

In ur price range look into JL C2s, Pioneer D series, Boston SC series, and CDT from mylows up there^^

I have experience with the C2s, pioneers, and Bostons and can tell u they are all good for the price IMO. The cdts have been getting good reviews lately as well.

U could also look for a set of eclipse sc6500s. Might be used but they're consistently compared with comps costing way more and do well.

Im not looking to spend another 150, im a broke 17 year old lol. Plus i would have to pay for installation due to not know how to set that up. I think for now ill just settle for the jbls and deal with the components later

Im a broke 18 year old..what's your point? Lol

Just Save the cash youd spend on that and buy something nice from the jump so you're not constantly changing.

Or maybe the Boston S60 comps if u must upgrade now....They fit 6.5 and 6.75 holes per the manual and crutchfield, cheap too.....I'd still wait and get something better though and spend this time saving and listening and researching
