Need help deciding on a HU..

I have $250 to spend on a HU what is the absolute BEST HU I can buy for this money? I would like a New unit.

I have seen the eclipse CD5000 and CD5100 in that range? which is better?

Also throw any other good buys up.. Thanks again..

The 5100 is newer. I LOVE my eclipse HU that I had, if I didn't get a deal on this clarion, I would never go away from Eclipse. Plan to get another one.

For the features, and if you wanted used. A Pioneer 800 or 880 is the best bang for the buck. But for new, go Eclipse. You won't be disappointed IMO.

That's a interesting question. Probably because they wanted people to buy the 7200 in stead, by using it's 8v pre-outs as a marketing scheme.

Honestly. You will be fine with 5v. Look at the features and the layout of the decks and pick one. Either one will be a great one. I had a CD4000. It had 5v outputs and I never had any noise issues.

I picked up an 8445 off a guy on CL today. Havent hooked up up yet. I got it for an unbeatable price, but he said that because it was disconnected from the battery I might have to deal with the security feature. Anybody ever deal with that?

Sorry bout the thread jackage, but we were on the subject of Eclipse HUs.

I am liking what I see from them and you should find something nice in that range.

I would absolutely get a Premier 880PRS if you could find one in that range. You just might on eBay.

Is that security feature the one that you need to put in a certain cd that you picked earlier when you set it? I had an eclipse deck long ago and thought it was something like that. I never remember been so long ago. I saw that deck one CL was thinking about it but the security scared me away.
