i wanted to buy a set of boston nx57 (5.25in) and run them at 80-100 watts and Boston nx97 (6x9in) and run them around 80 watts is that too many watts for the speakers, will they sound good plus do i need a 4 channel amp to run each 1 on around 80 watts or just a 2 channel amp thanx 4 your help im puttin it in a 1997 ponitac grand prix gt and im thinkin about puttin 1 type s alpine 12" sub and run it at 300 watts should i dynamt the whole trunk 2 thanx 4 ur replies.

them rms on both speakers are about 75-80 but to run all 4 speakers do i need a 4 channel amp or 2 . i get confused if it says RMS: 2x 80 does that mean oly speakers can run at 80 watts or 2 channels meaning 4 speakers

You will need a four channel if you want balance and fader control in your system. If the speakers are rated at 80 watts you won't hurt them with 100 watts per channel. If your amp is rated at 100x4 at 4ohms it will give you 100 watts on four channels with a 4ohm speaker on each channel. If the same amp is rated at 200x4 at 2ohms you will either need a 2ohm speaker on each channel or two 4ohm speakers wired in parallel on each channel to get 200 watts on each channel.
