Need an amp for a 15" SOLOBARIC L7...

I am running this in a custom ported box. However, it has dual voice coils, so I intend to run this at 2ohms at around 1200 watts. My budget is around 300-$360 shipped for the amp.

Any suggestions?

I was looking at the Alphasonik PMA-800DA which I would run at 1200 Watts x 1 @ 2 ohms Mono.

I was also looking at the KICKER SX1250.1, however I would run this at 1250 watts RMS x 1 at 1 Ohm, since its 2 Ohm rating is only about 650 watts.

Another question, is there a big difference in 2ohms or 1Ohm? I like the kicker amp better, but these two amps are comparably priced however the alphasonik offers the same wattage at 2ohms..

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hmmm, that sounds good.

What is the difference between the 2ohm and the 1ohm? Trevor, what would be the difference between me running your amp at 2ohms 1200 watts, or the kicker at 1200 watts at 1ohm?

Would I even be able to tell on the kicker? Thanks.

noy positive but with running @ 1ohm its possible to get more power from an amp at same voltages. where as @ 2 ohm you get rated power from the amp. But dont quote me on that. 1 ohm is just running a lower resistance to your sub pulling more power from the cars electrical i believe

So am I correct in saying I will not hear a noticable difference in SQ? I also listen to mainly rap/hip-hop so SQ is not a huge concern.

So if I wire this 4-ohm Solo-baric Dual Voice Coil sub in parallel, wouldn't that result in 2-ohms?

So is it even possible to use the 1-ohm Kicker amp?

No you cant wire a 4ohm sub at 1ohm it has to be run at 2 ohm

Do you really need all the signal processing built into that Kicker amp? That ads a bit to the price.

if you need 2 ohm, look at the ZX1000.1
