Need amp repair advice

what does it mean if the main 2 large fets in an amp are swollen pretty bad

does it mean the amp doesnt have alot of time left before they will need to be replaced? If they need to be replaced how hard would it be for me to order the fets and replace them myself? The amp is a orion 2500d.

It's not hard to replace the fets themselves...however there is usually a reason why the original parts are failing.

go to digikey or mouser and you can order parts. If you know how to solder then you should be good to go.

Have fun diagnosing that output driver l7runner. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

PM me like Sic said. I'll trade my services for some of your 500 series batts.

All the other fets and everything else looks to be fine so maybe it was just pushed a lil hard and swelled the 2 large fets...anyway I been soldering since i was a kid and do it now almost every day but i have never took the board out of a 2500d could anyone explain how to go about getting the board out?

I could probably figure it out but I think it would be better to ask then to proceed and screw something up lol
The mounting system is kind of annoying, but I like it better than springs. Loosen the screws on all of them, take the first layer of metal off (tapped, holding the screws in) and then take the second off, or you can slide the whole rails down the heatsink. To each their own.

I will not repair it if you butcher something, at least not without an extra hassle charge. x_x

soldering and diagnosing then repairing are 2 totally dif things
i can solder better than alot of professionals it dont mean i can repair an amp
I smell cooked fets already. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

According to the seller the amp works fine and i trust him...but I just got the amp in the mail today and opened it up to inspect the board as i do with all the used amps i buy and noticed the main 2 fets were swollen pretty badly...should i replace them or just use the amp?? heres some pics

If you press the bulges, are they stiff or do they recess under your touch?

It's pretty common to use 85C caps, though they seem to like the tradeoff of a better tolerance compared to the temperature rating.

I'm about to make a parts order, do you want me to order some for you for me to install?
