Need 6.5" component reccomendations - ID ctx65cs VS Kappa Perfect vs. JBL

Looking for a set of 6.5" components. Max i want to spend is $250.

I've read great things about the Image Dynamics ctx65cs.

My good friend can get the Kappa Perfect 6.1 for $80. He can also get JBL's at a killer deal as well.

Are there any higher end JBL's that compete with the ID's that i should be looking into?

What do you guys think? thanks.

Hertz ESK165 are harsh - I didn't like them at all. Ok midrange, weak bass, and bright highs. With the HSK - much better midrange and midbass but very bright highs - too bright to tune out. The MLK were verrrrry nice though.

ID is good. Alpine Type-R series have gotten better but are too mass produced to be of any real quality.

My favorite in that price range - Hybrid Audio Technologies - Imagine I61-2 for $200. Amazing midbass - more than any other speaker near that price range, supremely natural vocals, and very smooth highs.

Thanks guys. I ordered up a set of the ID's. I prefer a soft tweeter. I have an underseat Boss 8" woffer already. It's a track car (road racing)/daily driver, so im trying to keep weight to a minimum.

I have a JL 300/4 amp that needs to be repaired, my local JL dealer wants $240 to test and send it out, seems kind of absurd. Any other places that you guys recommend i check out for JL amp repair?

Also, should i bridge my 300/4 and run just the ID's off it, or keep the stock 6.5's out back and push 75w rms to all speakers?

That is the great thing about Maestro products, they are very thorough. Downside is the price tag.
