mavs are going down. spurs were just tried from the battle with the kings.

More proof that the Spurs aren't the team you think they are. Kings should have been a cake walk. If Brent Barry hadn't got that lucky bounce the Kings could have taken that series. Spurs offense relies a lot on Parker and Ginobli being able to penetrate the defense. Ginobli hasn't been able to penetrate, in fact he hasn't really played that good the entire year.

Dallas should be up 2-0, but they couldn't make there free throws in game 1. Dallas has too many weapons and the Spurs aren't 100%.

I'm not talking about ppg. I'm talking intangibles. When you can penetrate the defense like Ginobli did last year, you free up a lot of space on the floor. Not to mention he's a slightly above avg defender. Not as good this year, he's lost a step or two, but nonetheless if you want to talk about complete players he's up there on the list. Maybe top 15. Not top 15 this year though, but the past 2 years I'd say he's top 15.

Why are you bringing up assists/turnovers? He's not a ball handler, he doesn't play PG. His job is to pentrate the defense make the layup or kick out to someone else. That doesn't mean the person he passes to makes the pt, it may take two passes.

Again, usually when you penetrate, you kick out to a 3pt shooter and then he makes a pass to another 3pt shooter behind the line. The person who penetrates doesn't get that assist. Take Shaq for example, how many pts do you think the heat make from benefitting from the double team Shaq commands? But Shaq only averages 2 apg. It's an intangible. You don't always get credit for getting another teammate an open jumper or an easy layup.

If you wanted to argue further. Take Ron Artest for example, arguably the most complete player in the NBA, although you could say Kobe might be no. 1 on that list. 17.6 ppg 3.6 apg 2.3 tpg. Not much better than Ginobili. Statistics are overrated anyway.

I would be. They may be a tad better defensively than last year but but a tad better than awful is still pretty bad. Certainly NOT good enough to win a game against the Pistons. I think San Antonio wins that series simply because they believe in DEFENSE.

Defense? San Antonio's defense was awesome in game 2??? SA will lose this series. The mavs are too much for the spurs. Too many weapons. Defense isn't just a tad bit better, it's quite a bit better. They are giving up 3.7 pts less per game than they were last year.

That's what everyone said about the 04 Lakers. They got swept. Nobody gave SA a chance last year either. Dallas is better than you think, and I'm not a Mav's fan. They've got everything clicking right now and usually the teams that are firing on all cylinders are the ones that win the championship. In fact I think the Suns have a better chance of knocking off the Mavs than do the Spurs. But I don't think the Suns can beat the Spurs. I think the Mav's weakness would play to the advantage of a team that runs, which is why I think the Suns have a better chance of beating them than do the Spurs.
