Too many young guys today who didnt watch Jordan dominate the league night in and night out, year after year. Jordan's stats would have been even more impressive if he hadnt been so concerned about keeping his teammates in the games. I use to watch him come out on the court and hold back to see if his teammates would carry the game or not. If they did, he laid low and let his team win. If his teammates were having an off night, he stepped up and took control. Everyone knew Jordan was the man, every team based their entire defensive strategy off containing him.... yet nobody could contain him. And as Jordan got older, his game evolved to his age. In his younger years he was much more of a player who would blow past his defender and drive in to and above the rim. In his older years he became a legendary outside shooter. Ive never seen anyone with the talent to evolve their game so thoroughly and so successfully. There is nobody, nobody, in the league like Jordan. If you think there is, you didn't witness Jordan's game. If you think he is 'average' by today's standards, you are simply delusional.

The Charlotte years dont count. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

wow, again you amaze me with your posts. lol.

i agree 100% with you. but of course i cannot say anything against him bc i never saw him play, im only 17. he retired from the wizards when i was like 11. so i dont really remember much bout him. if anything at all. but what i HAVE seen from clips, recorded games, and highlights, he does prove to be the best. another thing, if you compare any of the "stars" of this age, they ALL have SOMETHING that shows a refection of Jordan. Jordan set a way of play that we all learned from. Why do u think all these players try to compare themselves to Jordan, bc he was the best. why else would you compare yourself to something or someone. you want to compare yourself to something/someone that is worth comparing yourself to. the only player i think is worth saying is close to Jordan is Kobe. im not saying hes better. but hes amazing. he does cry a lot, but thats standard in the NBA now. Jordan never complained like the NBA does now

I purchased a used EA Sports NBA game the other day (08 I think) and 2 of the 10 FAQ's were about Jordan. Can you unlock him in the video game (no), what would his stats be if he was in the game (all 99's). His name was plastered all over the dunk contest this weekend and his dunk from the free throw line is the defining moment in dunk competition history. Years after his retirement, he still dominates the sport. Again, only guys too young to know better, or people with a grudge against him would say any different. Jordan was in a league all his own.

that was my favorite moment in the NBA ever. when i saw that, my mouth dropped. lebron, kobe, wade, etc, will never do something like that.

Kobe is very good, and Id agree he probably comes the closest. But Jordan single handedly dominated the NBA. Yes Pippen was **** good, Rodman and Horace Grant were rebounding machines, and the Bulls had a fair share of other good players... but without Jordan they would have been just another average to above average team... as shown by the season Jordan was gone. Jordan defined dominance, sayings like "Tiger Woods is the Jordan of golf" becoming common. Jordan simply had everything you could want in an NBA player... legendary speed and quickness, jumping ability to die for, outside shooting that brought even a good defense to their knees, and intelligence that made him a coach and 'court general' out on the floor. His teammates looked up to him, his competitors feared him, and through it all he simply cruised into history as a dynasty setting player who could not be stopped. Im utterly amazed anyone who watches the sport regularly these days could even question that he would be 'average' by today's standards. He didnt play 50 years ago, the NBA was highly competitive in his years... he simply made it look otherwise.

yah, his basketball wisdom dominates all of these kids nowadays.

just like micheal jackson laid the foundation to future muscians, jordan laid down a foundation for bball players. usher, neyo, chris brown etc ALL imitate jackson, same wiht jodan

In Jordan's day, you either loved the Bulls, or you hated them, because you knew either your team was going to dominate the league, or in the case of any other team besides the Bulls, your team had virtually no chance of winning the championship.

BTW, the previous placed I lived in cali, Horace Grant lived in the same area and I ran into him several times at the local grocery store. Very nice guy, and his wife is hot as hell.

that makes sense.

yah i ran into grant hill at fun spot in orlando and his wife was **** hot lol

no kobe tonight...ftl
i no that upsets me lol

Technically he is correct. By todays Standards, Jordan is average. But the game/era Jordan played in isnt the same as today so you cannot go by todays standards to judge him. Jordan is one of the Greatest players of all time. Of course the game has evolved since him, better trainers, better athletes, more talent but that was not the same in Jordans time so trying to downplay his skills by going by todays standards is just ignorant at best. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Still wrong. Jordan and Dominique Wilkins were putting their chin above the rim 10-15 years before it became common like it is today. They were both freakishly athletic and physically gifted before working out became popular. I will say that the league as a whole is more physically gifted and more athletic, but Jordan was an exception to the rule. When Phil Jackson forced Jordan, like he forced Kobe, to be a team player by implementing the triangle offense he did not lose. Search youtube, find some Jordan dvd's and witness what was truly amazing.

hahah no hard feelings agaisnt you, just the cavs lol
Why, because we've now started dominating both LA and Orlando? You can't hate, you know it's true. Cleveland has the REAL SUPERMAN! Howard is Superman Jr.

Technically, you dont know what you are talking about either.
No, Definitely doesn't know! lol

Washington, not Charlotte. Hell even with Washington he was an above average player. I think people knocked him down because he was "Air Jordan" anymore and showed some mortality. He averaged over 20 pts a game and shot 40% then. Thats top 10 in the league now.

Jordan ever being considered "average" will never happen. More heart and killer instinct than any player, ever. I could go on and on about how he's better, but I get a little too worked up and it ends up being a freakin essay.
