NBA All star Weekend

30 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals per game over Jordans CAREER is not "average". End of story.
Well it's because he was playing against such mediocre players(18 of the other NBA at 50 players were in this same era), and such mediocre teams like the Celtics, Lakers, and Pistons teams of that era. I mean, he only scored 63 point on the Celtics in the playoffs, at their home court, and in his second season...same season the Celts won the title and went 40-1(they still won in double OT, but still...) at home during the regular season, and considered to be one of the best teams of all time. At the time this was also the most points ever scored on the Celtics at home, and highest scoring game in playoff history...not sure if it still stands. This was also after scoring 49 points in game one of the series.

Second season, no Scottie, playing against one of the best teams ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

That trumps Kobe's 81 against a sorry Toronto team that barely has one star, IMO.

And like I said, Jordan held back A LOT to keep his teammates in the games. His stats would have been much higher if he had tried to pad them like a lot of players/teams do these days. And Im not sure Id say the NBA was quite as competitive then as it is now. But if it wasn't, it was **** close. Funny truth is, Jordan and the Bulls made the rest of the league seem less competitive simply due to their dominance.
