Navigation unit need help deciding

Well i am getting my GF a navigation unit for her car. i will be taking out er cd player and installing it in the roof of her eclipse in a blazer roof console. and i will be relocating her heater controlls to make an opening for a navigation screen in her center console. now i have about a $500 limit to spend on the unit itself and i was wondering if anyone had any recomendations. i was looking at that tomtom unit, looks like i can get if for around my price on ebay but does anyone have any other thoughts?
