Navigation doesn't power off or detect reverse after jumping the vehicle

Hi everyone,

I have a Clarion NX501 navigation unit that was working perfect until I jumped my vehicle.

-vehicle was dead

-jumped the vehicle

- navigation wouldnt turn on

- pulled the RADIO and RADIO AMP fuses out and reseated them

- navigation turns on now and works great EXCEPT:

- it does not turn off when i turn the vehicle off, i can hold the power button to turn it off but it goes into a standby mode that eventually drains the battery. Power button is blue when on, red when off/standby mode.

- I also noticed when I put it in reverse, it doesn't detect it and does not display the backup camera input.

Could there be another fuse that I need to check or reseat? I checked the main 15Amp fuse thats inline on the power going to the head unit and it also looks fine ( i assume this pops to prevent the HU from frying in the event of a power surge, etc)

any advice? thanks!

Dan

was it ever wired up correctly? did any fuses blow? have you disconnected the batt again for 5min or so then reconnect it and see if that works, also a lot of units have a tiny reset button on the faceplate / screen

double check the power at the harness behind the radio. make sure the acc wire loses 12v when the key is off. What kind of vehicle is it in? If is something newer that uses and interface module that supplies the acc power that module might have gone bad. as for the backup cam you may need to adjust the settings of the deck to get that working again. if not the setting you will want to verify there is power at the camera, totally possible that the inline fuse for the cam popped.

- The backup camera works if I put it in reverse and manually switch the input to the camera, it just doesn't do it automatically when you go into R

- I couldn't find any reset button the head unit but I've completely disconnected it and reconnected it with the same behavior

- Vehicle is a 2004 H2 Hummer

- I'll try disconnecting the battery next. I'm not sure if any other fuses blew, do I just need to check them one by one even if they seem unrelated to the problem?

Pull your radio disconnect your aftermarket harness from the stock harness, then reconnect it. That will reset it.

If you have a Metra GMRC or GMOS harness, they tend to glitch out like that when your batt dies.

I do have the Axxess GMOS and I did disconnect it completely, I noticed that if I 'jiggle it' the nav will go on and off. I'm thinking there is a bad connection or something going on with the GMOS module now. Could it have gone bad from the jump?

it could easily do that from the jump. I've seen then get scrambled from less. Run through the settings for the camera to get that working again.
