Alpine Type R 12"

which one would you choose and why?

whatever one i end up getting will be running off about 500wrms and will be in a sealed box because space is an issue with my car. (i drive a firebird) i listen to alot of metal, along with some rap. i want the sub to hit the lows in the rap, but have enough accuracy to sound alright when i listen to metal. i know the sealed box will add to the accuracy of the sub.

Yeah, I wouldn't buy either, especially if you want accuracy. There are a lot of great subs out there that are affordable if you look outside mainstream brands. What's your budget?

my budget is about $200. dont really want to spend anything more then that.

what other subs you have in mind?

With that budget, I would go with an Fi Car Audio SSD with copper coils. Great sub for daily, and the copper coils will bump the SQ quotient up to a decenty level. The Phoenix Gold RsdC would be a very nice choice too

Otherwise, there are tons of good subs in the classifieds in that range. Look for the IDMax, Fi Q, anything TC-9 based, etc.

And if you're looking to stretch that money a little, I have some nice subs I'm selling. PM me if interested.

i went to FIcaraudio.com and checked out the specs on the SSD12 and i noticed that the sub handles 800wrms. the problem is that my amp only puts out 480wrms when its bridged. do you think i'll be underpowering the sub? will it sound like poo?
