I don't know man youtube video shows something happening but I would think dead is dead, maybe it would be good from the get go on a new battery using it to knock down phosphates, but I don't know that there isn't anything else could cause a battery to die pre-maturely I'm sure a lot of things would factor in on why a battery die's, I know I have had yellowtops give out after the little gray disc ruptured it still worked but was dieing quick as well as one that cracked around the terminal, I guess exposing the inner chemicals to air causes them to break down fast.
