Nail gun in palce of screws?

what so liquid nails isnt as good a bond as like elmers wood glue? I dunno, everytime I use that wood glue it just doesnt bond very well, but liquid nails seems to work nice.

am I missing something? what is a good wood glue to use? I read someone mentioned TiteBond, is there different forms of that (i.e. liquid nails heavy duty) especially for wood or what?

I dunno I always find screws to just crack my MDF //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif, but I would feel uneasy not using them.

I use titebond wood glue. I hate working with liquid nails...plus it costs more than a bottle of wood glue.
Yup, liquid nails ***** as far as use-ability IMO. Wood glue for me, occasionally Gorilla Glue if I get it for free //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Predrill. Then that won't happen.

there are like 30 different types of liquid nails---you just have to pick the right one for the application.

Hmm, I always get a great bond with elmers wood glue. Strange.
i dunno its just so liquid-like, but I am not talking about using it with screws or nails, i am just talking about apply pressure for a short amount of time, manually, so maybe thats why.

and I do predrill, but I still find it cracks, i had to move a screw like 4" from an edge before it wouldnt crack, I dont think my drill bit goes deep enough down, and thats why it cracks, but im not sure.

The reason for this has nothing to do with your method. It is due to the way MDF and HDF if actually composed. MDF isnt actually wood, its paperthin pressed sheets of sawdust layered and glued together. The reason glue works so well on mdf isn't because it's bonding wood to wood, its because its bonding glue to glue. A screw will actualy pry apart the layers of glue and paper which will result in loss of rigidity, the absolute last thing you want when building a box.

As far as the post above about seams not matching up, this is easily fixed. When the glue is tacked (between dry and wet), you can go over the seams lightly with an orbital (palm) sander or 150-220 grit sand paper. The dust created will fill the holes and create a bond similar to that of the MDF itself.

Best $72 I ever spent!

Brads were $7 for a pack of 2,000. Box building is lightning quick and there's absolutely NO need for countersinking. Only downside is that you need a really thick ext. cord as this thing pulls 14A:(

Yeah I got a pressure air powered Nail gun hooked to a big pressure tank dealy (its my dads hes got like every tool ever made in the basement) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm pretty sure you don't since I'd imagine it wouldn't pull anywhere near that amount of current on a continuous basis ...
breaker trips(15A) while washer is on and I pull the trigger. Even the instruction manual tells you to use #12wire or bigger. Manual also states 14A, and on my 100ft cord, brads wouldn't go into the wood any farther that 1/16th". Plugged directly in to outlet, BAM! Right down into the wood nice and easy.

^Puss Use Air..... from a tank //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
Buy me an air compressor, I'm not paying $250+ for the shitty ones here and I'm not ordering **** as frieght would be killer.
