Myth or true?

Say an amp blew out... you take it to get reapired... say the outputs went or something along that line. You get the amps reaired. An experienced installer told me that you have new parts working with old parts isn't good. he didn't say why but he said it isn't good as electronics are made to run really well for 2-3 years... Is that myth or fact??? Does it even matter????

Part fact.

Here is the thing.

Let's say your 2 out of 10 mosfets blow. He only replaces 2. Thing is, they were all subject to that intense surge or heat wave or something and the 2 that blew were the weakest ones.

Well now you have 2 new ones running with 8 older ones that have been through war. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

So you can see it is best to replace all mosfets if possible and most of the time it is possible but a little bit more money.

I'd say it's mostly BS. Audio equipment will basically last forever as long as you take care of it and are willing to make minor repairs.
go home billy...

you never replace bad fet's and leave the old ones in

yes that was i was thinking also my cuz just blew his 2000x god knows how... and he was told this and he got discouraged in fixing it, i was running 2 soon 3 of them and there monsters.... i might buy his and fix it and run 4 of them.....

what is a mosfect?
a critical component in the power supply (to convert the 12V battery power into something useful), as well as a critical component in the output of class D amps. "MosFets" have become very popular because they can be used as easily controlled switches.

Computers make use of millions of low power mosfets, while car amplifiers use a handful of higher powered mosfets. but in almost all cases, they are used as controlled switches.

they are a very common component to fail, and can fail in unexpected cases, such as amplifier turn on.

they are also among the easiest componenets to replace.
