From a alpine type R to a, Eclipse 7524 (SP) to a Lightning Audio VC2 I finally made my choice.
So my alpine type R separated right where the VC to the cone was gains werent even half up, my dumbass friend stuck a screwdriver through the cone because it was blown already. BB wouldn't take it back. So I choked him and made him give me 100$ for my MTX. (He had a BB plan and upgraded to a Type R for me, he'll never see his 130$..)
Went to the local toys with noise and got an Eclipse 7524 for 250$$. Hooked it up and it was nailing the lows gains were not ever over half way. Going down the road and low and behold it blew pretty bad. Sounded like sand was in the coil or somthing. Took it back to toys with noise (reccomend them) and the guys there were nice enough to take a look at my install. They asked who did it and I was like "myself", they were like dang pretty **** clean.
So we figured out that my amp was putting out .03% THD. Not too good IMO, so they stepped up the sub for me free of cost. We started out with Rockford P3's. Only problem was every box that was opened there was a 10" in it instead of a 12". So never got to try the sub out. Their MSRP was 289$ for that sub. So they decided to give me a lightning audio strike VC2. (Retail is 350$). So I got that and they marked where my gains should be on my amp. I'm letting it break in for now, then I'll put it in the appropriate mark.
So all in all I got a 350$ sub for 250$.
Comparing it to the type R.. The LA stops the piss out of it. The lows are loud with a 40hz box, highs are louder the gains are only at 1/4 and with the alpine at 3/4 (correctly set) the LA is eating it like nothing. I can only imagie what the LA is going to be like when the gains are set to the appropriate position.
I don't understant the Type R hype..? LA is doing pretty well also.
All I gotta say is what a week.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
