My tweeters stop working when Pushed Hard...Ideas?

Alright lets say im listening to some really loud, death metal, blasting it all the way....after 5 minutes or so my tweeters will stop working. I turn down the volume from 35(full) to like 30, and they start working again....If I turn it up to say, 34, it will last longer or not do it. Am I pushing my Amp (MB Quarts Ra2400) to hard? or is it the speakers (Boston Pro's 6.4)? Any Idea's?

My MBQ Premiums did the same thing. It's the passive network working to protect and burn off any extra energy. I believe the Z's have a lightbulb in them for such purposes. The bulbs in my passives used to glow too at high levels until I added more power.

So I guess I just have to live with it? and Live with only having it up to 34 out of 35? (sounds small but at that level that extra notch does a good bit)

Or should I turn down my treble (only at 1 out of 8 right now on my HU)

Chances are that the preouts on you headunit are clipping at full volume. That +1 on the treble might be the cause or the HU might just be like most in that it clips before full volume is reached on the volume control. Ideally you want to know at what volume setting the HU begins to clip. That is the volume that you should use to set your gains and should be considered the max volume of the HU. Turning it up higher is only dialing up distortion. Distortion manifests as lots of high frequency information. That extra garbage is what the protection circuits are keeping out of your tweeters.
