My tranny is ROYALLY messing up, dunno if I can get to work. P0774

also you shouldn't drive it at all but if you absolutely have to drive it do not put it into OD use 3 or 2 on your gear selector. the reason it revs is because the solenoid is defective or has a wiring short somewhere and it controls pressure through the valve body. with it not doing its job, your trans is slipping and burning up the clutches.

right the solenoid should be in the trans in the valve body, you will have to take the pan off. And when you check fluid on most cars in should not be cold, it should be hot because trans fluid expands as it heats up. But you will have to double check your manual for that.

**** I guess Ill be taking it to a shop tomorrow, inside the tranny eh, that bites, I was hoping I could do it myself

Would a regular side job mechanic be able to do this (I know a handy guy, that used to be a ford mechanic) Or would a tranny specialist be best

Any idea on what the solenoid itself would cost, or the labour involved

a shadetree is fine as long as he can diagnose which 1 exactly is bad or if the whole solenoid pack is bad. if i was close I'd do it for ya for a case of beer and the part //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ya Im pretty **** handy myself with cars, I just have ZERO clue with auto trannies, this is the first car ive ever had with one, and the first problem with the trans Ive ever had

I dropped it off @ halton transmission today. Took it to 2 places, halton was the second, the first place (mister transmission) said they wanted 5 hours labour to start 2.5 in 2.5 out, and that was $500 BASE + whatever was wrong

Went to halton tranny, they only wanted 4 hours labour (2 out 2 in) and only wanted $350 for that, and the guy I was talking to seemed pretty cool, we made fun of a crackhead together, and he liked my stereo and we kinda chatted. So i decided to just leave it there. Hoping he wouldnt gouge me

They probly got it out by now though, Im gonna stop by in 30 min before they close to see where its at

Just stopped by there shop and they had the tranny out and apart, the guy showed me the 3 gear clutches ( i think, big mess of rings ) and they were pretty scored lookin

So those gotta get replaced, he said he was gonna look tomorrow for what CAUSED that problem.

Hopefully get it back soon

The vibrations probably caused the wires to rub against metal somewhere...that takes time 😂
