My subs

I have a 95 4runner and i wanna put a kick *** system in it but i dont really no much about car audio..what would be better..2 15" L5s or 3 12" VRs, at first i was going to go with the L5s but i talked to the man at radio shack and he said the VR's would be better?can anybody help me out
