I origionally bought two 10" subwoofers for my 2000 Chevy Silverado Regular Cab. Planned to port them both, but couldn't come up with a design that didn't hinder the performance for both subs, and didn't take away ALL leg room in the truck. So, I decided just to use one of the 10"s in a properly designed/tuned box that left my plenty of leg room (it actually took none away), and I could incorporate an amp rack into the box. Enough background, onto the system specs....
Box is 1.4 cubic feet, tuned to 35Hz with 16 in^2 of port. In hindsight, I may not have used enough port area, as I ended up with a little bit of port noise. I made the box slightly larger than recommended to accomadate for the slightly smaller than recommended amount of power I'm sending the sub. It's rated at 750wrms, I'm sending it roughly (not including any impedance rise or my weak alternator) 725 wrms, off of an Orion 1200d wired at 2 ohms.
The sub is AMAZING right around 42Hz. Truly an SQL woofer. Isn't all that impressive below 34Hz or so, but that isn't really expect as it's only a 10" woofer. In the upper frequencies (40-50Hz) this sub SHINES. Amazing SQ with the volume to back it up and reinforce it's claim as an SQL woofer.. On burps, this sub is begging for more power. With a better box and a little more power, I'd be hardpressed to say it wouldn't hit a 138-140 on the TL. I'd build a better box, but I'm off at college now and dont' have the money, time, or tools to build it. I'm happy though
I look forward to a build for my sisters 4runner with two 12" Arsenals, each with around 800watts to really see the potential of this line of subs.
Overall, I am more than impressed with the raw potential of this sub in the hands of a not-so experienced box designer. I'm sure with a better box (really, just a little more port area) this thing would be amazing. It's a GREAT sub, and I recommend it for **** near any SQL application. This sub sounds GREAT, with the volume to back it up. No one believes it's just one 10".
Don't critique this review too hard, as I'm no expert or anything. Just offer opinions and slight critiquing, and any questions. Don't flame me too bad, just offering my opinion.
Cheers
(I'll get pics of the box/install tomorrow, when it's light outside)
