my new pitt puppy! PIX

Pittbulls are the absolute best dogs in the world, I would NEVER own any other breed ever. Everyone I have owned has been the sweetest thing in the world. Nice lookin dog, do you know where it came from? Or did you buy it from someone you dont know?

it was given to us by a friend. they moved to an apartment which only allows one dog and one cat. they already have a grown boxer/mix, so there was not much of a choice. he could have sold it but knew my brother really like the dog.

pits just take a little more time to train and a watchful eye cause they are not the smartest dogs and that's not true about them not being family dogs cause i had mine since my son was 3 months old and never even close to an incident that would make me worry in the least and it's been 3 years i don't like the idea of a second hand pit though you never know where it came from (parents) or what has been done to it cute dog though

thats a skinny pitt i bet its got rhodiasian ridge in him ( stouter pitts generally get body type from bull terriers lol) they are actually very smart as long as you dont makem feel to inferior. 2 things i would watch for are 1. they are naturally protective of "their" people and what they assume as "their" property especially if you are not there. train him to let go on command 2. they are smart in an emotional sense they are mad when u are happy when you are and act sad when you are. if you pay attention to that and play off it you can get them trained pretty well although for the most part they dont like doing tricks out side of leash training and shakeing. we had about 8 of them while i was growning up you wont find a better dog for your family generally its just the surroundings you gotta be careful of (other people dogs cats) also as a puppy when he gets playing rough nip it in the bud they bite hard anyway and when older if they get that way they meet you pulling away as a reason to bite harder and not let go. we had pitts with bull terrier in them that weighed in at 120 stout lbs and 1 that had rhodiasian in him weighed in at about 80 you can tell by looking at their teeth too if it has rhodie in him his teeth will curve to an almost barbed end (gotta look at it close cause white on white from a few feet looks the same lol) and yes before the american staffordshire terrier (a pit) became offical they did mix them to get traights they wanted the rhodie was faster more athletic and meanier/more brave.

if ANYTHING happens to my other dog (eskimo spitz) this dog will be gone.
if the pit is young that other dog will end up having a bodyguard. we had ours with miniature schnoozers (i am not looking up how to spell that lol) and if u spanked the little dog the pit would give you the eye lol the other dog will be part of the pits pack if you will

My parents have two English bull terriers back in NC...I love those dogs, they make the funniest faces //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not to mention they think they're humans...I think the female has finally come to terms that she's a dog, but the male isn't giving up hope anytime soon.

he looks cool. just TRAIN HIM RIGHT. no need for pitts to be feared and regarded as savage child eaters
Too late. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif Whats sad is its always the owners fault.

It only takes ONE incidient. There is a reason that pits are NOT classified as DOMESTICATED.

because pitts are up there is the most tame dogs......you just dont hear about the other "cute dogs" there was a thread stating facts, i believe that was the number. its NOT an aggressive dog unless you TRAIN it to be an aggressive dog. To its unadvantage they are stocky dogs with a great build muscular wise....what does this do? gets them attnetion of being little hard asses and dumb****s train em to fight. its not the dog, its the people.
My family recently adopted a pit-bull its about 10-14 months. A month after he had recovered from starvation his agressive tendancies became appearent. We came to the conclusion that his old owner was an white male, for he becomes extremely defensive whenever a white male approaches; on the same note, he is extremly nice to women, and 'non-white' males. We are currently in the process of un-training his agressive tendancies. This pit-bull is extremely intelligent, he responds to commands quite well, but he is really agressive. When ever he gets remotly excited he begins to bite. It isn't a hard bite at all, he has yet to pierce my skin, he also loves to Jump on people. I wont be able to stop him from doing this because the rest of my family enables it and think's its adorable... but once this m-fer gets a little bit bigger... people will be falling over. This pitbull is extremly fast, and agile, playful, and intelligent. If you're smart and patient.. a pitbull is a perfect dog. I love the challenge of changing the personality of agressive pit bulls. For the other 6-7 other dogs I've re-trained and put in good homes. My dog.. derby.. has proven to be the biggest challenge, but hes workable.

Gl and Treat'em right.

yep.....the staffordshire bull terrier is the cousin of the pit......it has a reputation of being the "nanny dog" cause they are so great w/ kids
you paper a pit it is a staffordshire terrier lol pits are a "relitively" new breed that have traceable (easily) bloodlines from other breeds. their short coming is that they are a terrier with size that can hurt/kill people

my dog (eskimo spitz named angel) doesnt like anyone with anything other than white skin. his other owner abused the hell out of her, and we have come to believe it was a dark complexioned family. i dont know whether they were black/indian/asian or what, but it ONLY goes nuts when darker people are around.

actually your thinking of an american staffordshire bull terrier.....they are the larger version of the staffordshire bull terrier.....

yup but if you paper a pit bull thats what they recignize them as we registered and sold probably 50+ pups over a 8 yr period lol had an accident though when the schnoozer got ahold of the pit in heat lol ended up miniature bull schitzels lol they were funny as puppies totally mutty as adults lol. i would also say id rrather have a pit bull pissed off at me than a rhodisian ridgeback i know when u look at the rhodey you would say "why?" they are just really weird they arent affraid of you anyway and their hair stands up like a razor back pig lol when the pit bulls went into the woods and got a racoon you could tell the coons got them good when the rhodey did it he wouldnt have a scratch on him. when they played and what ever the other dogs were scared of him and he was at least 10-20 lbs lighter lol was funny
