so i used to own a 12 inch 9500 in the sledgehammer box with a mtx 1501d (new style) and it sounded really nice, just wasnt quite loud enough. so i went ahead and got ahold of a 15 inch version and a kicker zx1500.1.

so i build the box per mtx's specs in the manual @ 2.48ft^3, and im pretty disappointed. i expected this thing to wang out like crazy.

will changing the box design change things that much? is there a different design i could get that would just have huge spl numbers?

All you basically did was upgraded from a 12" to a 15" with the same power. You are expecting too much. Should of just added another 12, and another mtx 1501d amp and it would of been a big difference.

well the 1501d tested out at 1100 something watts at 2 ohms and the 1500.1 tested out at 1700 something...so quite a bit of difference as far as power and surface area of the sub

yeah really you must have no electrical upgrades man only 1100 watts at 2 ohm outta that amp.

im going off of the birth sheet that was shipped with the amp. obviously thats at 14.4 volts, my only electrical upgrade right now is a yellow top under the hood. i have a HO alternator sitting in my garage im too lazy to put in for the moment.

and for the record, its a 4 cylinder turbo wrx..

and as much as id love a DD sub, im sticking with MTX or Kicker due to the amazing Circuit city discounts i can still get through my buddies.

and people are saying i should have gotten more outta my 1501d's...i ordered 2 of them, both put out around 1600 something at 1 ohm..i dont think the thunder elite versions are as awesome as the older ones you guys are probably referring to
