My listening test........CompVR vs JL12w1v2

I have a 140watt alpine amp, that I like very much......didnt want to upgrade amps (not into BOOMING like I was when I was a yungun) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .......anyhow I had a CompVR rated at 400watts rms and it really sounded good, and had a powerful kick off of my amp......the thing is, I had the gain on my amp at 75%, and the bass boost at over half to get it to knock. I switched out the CompVR to listen to the JL.......I had to back off all the adjustments.....gain, and bass boost. My amp is under much less stress, and this sub gets as loud and deep as my CompVR did. Its rated at 150watts rms and is much more suited for my Alpine amp. The CompVR seemed to have more punch when turned up loud, but the JL has alot of deep rumble. All in all Im happy with the purchase. Everything sounds really balanced now, which is what I was aiming for.

cool i have alpine amps, what amp are you using?

oh and btw those are TOTALLY different subs, absolutely no comparision... one is pure SQ and the other pure SPL

Its the MRPT220 bridged to 140watts. Ive heard it actually puts out around175watts. Im more of an SQ guy now.....so, I may switch back to a sealed box for tis sub.

watch your ohm load on that sub, im not sure if its that particular sub but JL has been

known to fuk around with odd impedances... i'd hate to see you blow your amp
