My JL audio 10 inch sub sounds too low..

I have a 10 inch JL audio sub thats sounds way low. I would like to have it sound with more punch, more kick to it. I have it hooked up to a alpine MRP M450 amp. Will a good EQ solve this? Whats a good EQ to get?? Im a new so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I have the JL audio powerwedge truck box. its just a regular box..not sure what frequency I have the amp set to..Ill check in the morning. thanks

Does it have a hole in it (PORT)....LOL, or not??? A small sealed box should have good punch, and still drop pretty low.
