Ok, first let me say, please don't put my system down, just cause its WalMart
anyway, I went to Walmart with some $$$ I got for Christmas. only had about 100. anyway, I got the Durabrand 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater System....the one without a DVD player, because i already have a DVD player. So I hooked it up to the big 27 inch Tv and it was pretty good. Only problem was I cant run the back speakers to the back, because I live in an apt and would have to run wires across the floors. Well, after a couple of days, I noticed that something didn't sound right....well sure enough, one of the front speakers wasn't working. So I went back to Walmart, and did an exchange...just got the same model again.
Now here's the fun part. When I got back home, instead of hooking it up to the TV again, I hooked everything up to the Computer. I play games more than I watch TV anyway, and I was able to set the rear speakers up right. The computer is on a computer desk in a little cubby hole between the closets in the bedroom. So the front 3 speakers are on top of the desk and the 2 rear speakers are on the wall on each side of the cubby hole. and the sub is under the desk next to the CPU
Now, I know that this thing is only 60watts, but I also downloaded a little program called SRS Audio Sandbox, and I don't know exactly how it works, but it more than doubles my sound. I can't put the volume up on my computer more than 1/4 or its too loud (at least thats when my wife starts to complain). I played some Bass Mekanik songs through it, and I am thoroughly impressed. Who says that you can't get good stuff cheap.
Anyway, thats my my 2 cents worth...it may be a cheap system but my games (notably Call of Duty) sound a LOT better with it.
