My headlights

I am running a DEI 600D amp hooked up to a stock HU and Orion XTR Pro 12.. The amp is rated 750 x 1 @ 1 ohm.. The sub is 500 RMS, 1000 MAX Dual 4 ohm Voice Coil... I am in a 98 Grand Am...

I just replaced my alternator the other day cause it crapped on me.. The new one was rated 120 AMPs.... My headlights are still dimming, which I expected, but I am very apprehensive at running my sub cause I don't want to lose another ALT.. Does anyone have any suggestions?! I am looking at getting a new HU, but I don't know what to get and I don't know if that will help my problem any or not?

Dimming at idle would be normal, but I wouldn't expect dimming from a 120 amp alt at driving speeds, not with 750 watts. Check your gains, there could be some clipping going on, though I'm not positive whether that would **** extra juice or not, its worth a look. Then I'd go thru the normal checklist, proper wire guage, battery then capacitor if need be. Hope this helps.

You could have just gotten another bad altrernator. Depends on where you bought it and all. I once went through three alternators in a month, no more shopping at O'Reilys.
