I have had my system in my car for almost a year. This problem just started recently. My music will play and every now and then the bass(subs) will shut off but still play music and then turn back on, some times my head unit will shut off completely and turn back on without resetting. i bought a new headunit. same problem, was working for a bit then does the same thing..plays for a bit, now and then my subs don't work. then comes back on a second later then my head unit will just shut off then turn back on ...ive gotten a new headunit and checked all my wiring. subs and amp are new. do i need to get a new gauge power wire n ground? also have a capacitor hooked up. could that be the problem?? HELP!

i have 2 10" kicker comps, 760w pioneer amp, with kicker speakers and a clarion 600$ new headunit.

ive redone my ground in 3 different spots, 2 different spots in my trunk and my final one is right under my rear seat. my wiring from my battery to my amp looks fine, my fuse is fine everything is tight. Someone told me to just get rid of the capacitor, others told me to get a bigger gauge power and ground wire.

i was just talking to a friend and he told me it could be a short in my stock wiring harness going from my fuse box. could that be it?

possible short in the speaker wires - powered by the head unit.

possible short in the RCA - though i'm not sure if it would take the HU down. worth checking.

short in the remote wire?

things break, things come loose.

you did you make connections behind the HU? what type of connectors?

no i have had one of those amps the pull way to much power for what there worth
even if that was true it wouldnt be randomly turning his deck off and on.

when your head unit shuts off but doesnt reset does the music keep playing? if so your face plate is probably dead and you need a new deck. first thing to do is to run new remote wire and RCA's imo

ok well i just redid my battery terminals (taking off corrosion) not that much on it though. and i sanded down my leads on the battery, redid all my capacitor and amp grounds. working so far so good, i haven't been driving yet, i played music for 20 minutes with nothing wrong. although my capacitor isn't showing numbers anymore, its blank but has power, i took a 12v test light to it and it had power, although i tried to put the test light where my fuse is under my hood and it wouldn't light up???? so idk...anyone help me with this hah
