My head unit display went out....

All of a sudden last night, I turn the car on, the radio turns on but there's no display, all the LEDs and display stuff are just dead. Worked fine first, turned the car off, turned it on 5 minutes later and nothing.

Fuses check out good, radio plays music fine, can switch cds, etc.

Well I could, now I can't access the radio since its asking for the security code and I can't see the display to enter it in....

Am I screwed?

One time my kenwood deck's display just shut off while i was adjusting the volume.. then when it turned back on, the volume was 3x times that it had been before and blew my subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I think this happened due to extreme cold but I doubt this is the reason in your case.

Mine just did the same a few days ago. It started with the display, then the whole face stopped working. I think that the wire harness between the faceplate and the unit crapped out. It still plays, but I can't change anything. Do yourself a favor and take your CD out of the HU now befor it's too late. I have part of a box set stuck in mine.

I have the exact same problem with my Kenwood KDC-MP8017. it ahs a flip-face and i believe the cable that bends has cracked. its over 2 yrs old, and i will never buy another flip-face kenwood unit.

i didnt know it could be fixed, so currently i am looking for a new MP3 player under $300.
