Here's my idea for my monte carlo. It will be a single 15 going where the spare tire goes. After I find out the cf of the spare tire I will then build the sides and top of the box outside of the car. Next I will fiberglass the where the spair went. The I will put the rest of the box over the spair area and fiberglass it so it seals. After that I will carpet the top and add the sub. The box will be 2.ocf after displacement

Questions

Where does the speaker wire go?

Should I fiberglass everything where the tire went?

Do I need to add tape and aluminum foil if the box will be permanent?

Am I missing anything here?

Btw I wish I could port this 15" Soundstream sub but Soundstream doesn't reconmend it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

1) You could drill a hole and use silicone to seal it up. or get a terminal cup and fiberglass it in

2) You dont have to use fiberglass everywhere, just remember MDF for straight surfaces and fiberglass for curved areas

3) If its permanent, you dont have to use the foil and tape unless you want to take it out and work on it. The tape and foil allows the mold to be "popped out"

Thank you. I was wondering about having to fiberglass the rounded part (spair tire area). So I was right in what I was thinking in the first place. I have figured out how to find out the volume in the tire area and I think I'll use kitty litter.

Let me give you one point of advice: TAKE YOUR TIME, i mean really take your time and do it piece by piece. I made the mistake by doin a whole layer at once and came back and found air bubbles everywhere. Good luck and be patient.

air bubbles huh. I'll run a search on air bubbles. This will be my first time building any type of box. I thought I just take the resin and smear it on but like I said I'll run another search so I get this right. Thank you

Just read through a few of the fiberglass tutorials which are in the STICKY at the top of the forum page. It will give you a better idea of what you doing and what to expect.
Doing it right now.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
