My Friend is having Trouble with his Subs....need some help please

well my friend is having some troubles with his subs and what not here's what he typed on another forum.

"I have 2 Kicker 12" CVR's(dual 2 ohm) and i have them powered by a Kicker ZX750.1 and today wen i was driving the amp kept on going into protection mode and come back on for second and go right back off and then i would turn it down and they would work fine when its turned down low.

I just got home to check my connections and everything was in and the ground is still in there as good as can be.

I then felt my one sub and it was warm and the other one wasnt so i turned my system on and the one that was warm was no longer working so i took it out of the box and it smells real bad inside the box sorta like a burning smell.

I have been running these since the Begining of May and i had no problem until now so does anybody have any clue as to what the problem could be??"

Well the burned sub is probably blown. Low voltage clipping the amp maybe?

that one sub is toast, how were the subs wired? 2 or 1/2 ohm? watch the gain.

They were Wired at 2 ohms.

well the burn is probel the voice coil being burned up if the amp shut off proble maybe not shur could be ur wire guage is to small

He said the Gains wernt cranked or anything

He burned the coils on the subs, lowering their impedance, tripping protection on the amp as it tries to drive the too-low impedance load at high volume. Time for new subs and a properly set gain.
