My first try at Custom Glass box

Most of the box is 3/4 MDF. The top & front are Fiberglass. I reall have no idea what I am doing, just trying to follow guides from this site. I made the wood part to fit in the trunk nice & tight. I used liquid nails in every joint for a good bond/seal & coarse wood screws. Of course I siliconed every wood inseam as well.

Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated. So far so good. I have resin'd the fleece & that turned out well. I have also done 2 layers of glass that I don't have pics of yet.

One thing I have to point out is that I went all the way down the sides & back of the MDF with resin then a thin layer of glass. I plan on bondo'ing these for paint as well. The only part that won't be painted is the bottom.

id not use chop stick dowls and hot glue any more, the resin while hardning will bend it outta shape, next time use pices of wood angled to prop the rings up, screw em in place. will be more sturdy for the resin process. looks great tho!!

Sure it may come out better, but thats a royal ***** to do.....just lay the fiberglass on the outiside, much much easier...and a bunch of sanding will take care of any F*cks ups that may happen....though your box there should be easy to lay glass on, pretty simple, no small nooks to and what not, should be simple

looks good. i agree with its gona be hard sanding between the cleavage. what i did when i layed my glass was alternate the direction i layed the glass, dont know if it matters much but it seamed like it could give it a little more strength

That it does my brother. You should always alternate bias ( direction ) 90 degrees every layer. It will increase the strength, and overall rigidity. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I will be building up most of the "cleavage" so hopefully it won't be too difficult. I will get some more pics up soon. I used mat for the first couple of layers. I am using some 2.5 ounce cloth for a couple smooth layers. I thought about using some 6-8 ounce cloth to strengthen on the inside of a couple key spots. Once it feels titanium strong, I will do the Bondo thing. Never Bondo'd anything before. Hope it goes well.

So my box design looks good? The angles aren't going to be a problem?
