That guy Don is a great guy. Monday I started looking around and decided on the CLD panels from them, Emailed him and got a quick response. Payed and almost instantly he had my order processing. Recieved it today 2 days after payment, I payed on tuesday. Shipped from connecticut i believe.
The product came via USPS which wasn't a problem, it came early with my mail so I was super excited to see it here so soon. I opened it up and found myself with the 10 CLD panels i ordered and some 2 bonus 6X10 samples of the Closed cell foam and Mass Loaded vinyl barrier (which both seem like very quality product by the way).
So I take a look at the panels, They were pretty thick, the 10 panels weighed roughly 5-7 pounds i would say. The panels had a thick butyl backing on them and stuck super well. If you read any of my other posts i posted that I had once sprayed some asphalt road noise eliminator in the trunk lid as a GHETTO form of sound deadener, That didn't work to well. So I went ahead and chiseled off some to get some bare metal in 3 places. I took a sheet of the panel and cut it to fit the opening and stuck it on. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. Knocked on one of the spots I chiseled away at with just bare metal, hear ding ding ding, Hit where i put the panel, THUMP THUMP THUMP. I was impressed and excited to finish. Started cutting and sticking it everywhere. My main concern was my licence plate because it had a mean rattle to it, Like really bad and really loud. So i put a sheet behind the plate, And then covered a good amount of my trunk. 10 Sheets when a long way. Got like 75 percent of my trunk lined, Which was overkill but worth it.
Afterwords I had this bright idea. I knew how bad my plate rattle was from the start and I wanted to never worry about it again so I took those nice samples I recieved and took the butyl adhesive that came with it and stretched it to fit around the mat, just a thin string of it all the way around, it wasn't a lot, but that stuff really sticks! So after I put the butyl on it i stuck it behind the plate over the CLD for some extra protection. Then I took the closed cell foam that also came is as a goodie, stuck the velcro on the ends and put it over that mat. Anything is better than nothing imo.
Closing the trunk it just sounded quieter. I started knocking around and was amazed. It went from sounding like im tapping on a tin can to sounding like I'm tapping on wood. Literally.
So I go down the street to a parking lot, put on a bass heavy song, crank it to max, then get out and listen. Only rattle was this thing over my plate and that's because its loose. Nothing a piece of double sided tape hasn't stopped before. I held down the loose part I knew was always the problem and WOW. Like I seriously had no rattle, all I heard was clean bass. Very good.
I'm very impressed by the product and the price isn't bad at all, Something like 3.25 a sheet if you buy 10 or more to a certain number, then it is discounted more after that. I would recommend this product to anybody. The guy Don is a great guy and he is very easy to deal with. Shipping was quick and the customer service was awesome as well. I haven't used any other deadeners like second skin or dynamat, but this product was great and i would recommend it to anyone. It had easy application and was a thick quality product for a good price.
Best 38 dollars shipped I have ever spend on the car!
Just thought i would share my experience with them.
Oh and btw, I would have taken pics but I could not find the charger to my camera. So annoying. Maybe when I find it I will take pics/vid of the finished product.
For more info on the product I would shoot over to http://sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi and if you need anything else answered I wouldn't hesitate to Email Don with your questions. I'm sure he would be glad to help.
