My experience with Planet Audio tech support

So it’s about time for me too build a new box for this sub. With all my previous boxes I have estimated the volume that the sub takes up in the box too be ~.25 cuft and that is what I have always used for my calculations. Today I decided too call PA and ask for the actual volume in order too achieve a more accurate tuning for my next box. I was on the phone for about 2 min... I asked “how much volume does a FU 18 take up in box?" He told me I’m going too want 6.5 cuft w/ one 4" tube port (strait from the manual) bla bla bla... I stopped him, rephrased my question and told him the value I was looking for should be .2-.3 cuft. ... so does anyone know the vol. of an FU 18" or a Stroker 18"?

he probobally just didnt understand your question. He obviously gave you the recommended volume after displacement and all.

Just call them again, hopefully you will get another person to pick up the phone

don't you have the theile/small parameters? it should have the actual displacement of the sub on there.

In the right box strokers can sound quite good. Ive seen them used at some sq comps before believe it or not. The box is real complicated, but when done correctly it sounds close to a w7. No joke. An ole friend of mine works at tweeter, and they used to sell cerwin vega, before it became tweeter, and he built many boxes for the strokers, and they sounded excellent. So anyone that says they sound like shit hasnt heard them in the correct box . Email cerwin vega they will give you the correct box for sq.

Considering strokers were first MADE for sound quality, but found to get loud as hell. And thats not a stroker, completely different subs.

Planet audio copied the strokers looks. I would have sued personally. And anytime you get a sub thats called F U, then your bound to have problems with it....

Dont think so. They may look somewhat similar, but I doubt the fu could compete with the stroker, and also why would cv sell their design. I doubt they did that.

I was refering to the stroker sounding like a w7, not the fu. They are not the same sub!!!!!!!
