i was driving home from school yesturday and when i was crusing at about 45 mph, my car started doing this thing were the rpms would fly up and down and i couldn't give it any gas. i knew this was going to be a problem, but i tried to ignore it and see if it kept happening. this morning on the way to school my car stalled 3 times all at stoplights, and if your wondering, its an automatic. i don't know whats wrong, im going to take it to the shop, but i was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

i notice that since the cold weather, it has slipped a little in the mornings, but only when i put it into drive first time, then its fine the rest of the day. i dont' get it, i hope its not gonna cost me like 2 grand to fix, the cars only worth that much anyway...

wut kinda car is it... i know ALOT of grand cherokee's ***** slip in cold weather and u have to put it in nuetral and put it back in drive to get it to go sometimes...thats the only thing i could think of though as for the rpm's . idk about it shuttin off

yeah, its weird. its an acura integra 91. its only got 77 thousand miles on it tho and i think that could be the reason for some of my problems. it just sat in my grandma's driveway and didn't get driven, japanese cars were meant to be used.

aint no tellin.. you'll prolly have to have a shop look at it, they'll have to look around to find the problem.

check the timing and fuel pump, my freinds car was doin close to the same thing, and it was a combination of the two...

You have to take into account though that you're probably not going to find another car for 2k that doesnt have problems with it or developing. So unless you need something short of an engine swap, you're be better off fixing the problem and having a car that wont have that as a problem for the next 100k miles.

altenator maybe....my car did that one time, then the power steering went, alternator died mid drive and car just shut down...

Could be a number of things really. I dont think it would be a ****** thing since your rpms are jumping up and down and being an automatic. I would check into fuel pump and maybe you got some bad gas of some sort. Did you just recently fill your car up?

yeah, but i only go to chevron though, i don't think it was crappy gas.
