a buddy of mine has an 800 watt fosgate amp in his truck and for some reasonthe fuse in his power wire keeps blowing, and we dont know why, its not grounding out (anywhere we can see) and it already caused and Alpine amp to catch on fire (I seen it, big flames) and he dont want it to happen again. Do you think he needs bigger wire, he is running 8ga.. Could that be it. Any help appreciated.

If the fosgate is rated to put out 800w then yes you need more than an 8 ga. wire. You should probably go down to atleast a 4 ga. wire. I would reccomened a 2ga. personally but that's just me i tend to go a little overboard on everything that i do. For an amp that size i would use a 200 - 250a fuse but in reality a 120a is all that is probably needed needed.

yeah, if he is using 8ga, then the inline fuse is probably smaller than the fuse on the amp, like 30amp or something, get a 4/2 ga kit and you will get a bigger fuse, ground, and power wire, and you will have some extra rca and remot wire to play with.

What size fuse you got on it now? Depends on how far you got to go and how much you wants to spend, if you dont want to use internet (i cant see why you wouldnt) you can get a descent kit 4 gauge at wal marts...... its only like 16 or 17 feet thou but for 20 dollars why not... I would go with a anl 150 fuse about 10 dollars for a stinger and the fuse holder cheap one stinger also about 15 at your local shop. make sure your ground is same as power and its grounded real well.......

Yes if we knew when the amp was bowing the fuse then we could tell you exactly what to do, but if it blowing at little or no volume then there might be another problem somewhere else and maybe even the amp since RF does not include fuses on their amps chassis anywhere, neither inside.
