well i got my new model fi btl 18" and it is loud as **** on the lows. when you start getting into the highs it doesnt sound really loud. i was wondering maybe my box is to big and not letting it hit highs i got it in 7.5 cubes off a sundown 3000d

hell I had my 15" btl in a WAYYYYY undersized box and it was wangin pretty flat across the whole range, Im sure it could have got alot louder in a bigger box. I dont know what that box was tuned to as it was a prefab but then again knowbody knows what yours is tuned to either, that info might help.

That Immortal I had hit the highes hella hard in the prefab box but then I put it in a 2.5cub tuned to 28hz and the lows were overwhelming and the highs just fell off, you might be experiencing the same thing

That's what happens with a very powerful motor and stiff suspension; around tuning, they can really drive the port into resonance and boost output but they may struggle above tuning.

That's one of the trade offs that goes with peak output vs flat output.

And to think, people actually believe that driver parameters don't mean anything. hmm...

but my BTL didnt do that although I never got the chance to put it in a proper box I was satisfied with how it sounded, I would have prefered it a bit louder but if that extra umph would have sacrificed the overall output I was getting I dont think I would have left it in the bigger box. Probably just threw some extra power at it in the prefab.

You put it in a prefab?

The 'bottom end' is going to be more exaggerated, you put the woofer in the bigger end of the enclosure spectrum...

If you want the 'high end' to be more pronounced shrink volume and/or change tuning frequency...

Or do what most do and invest in a stout front stage!

Mine were in 6.5 @ 35hz and they didnt play anything high, but when I did a hairtrick on low notes, it would just about rip the scalp off the poor girl.

It seems they play everything much flatter in smaller boxes, like 4.5-5cubes.
