My Amp cuts off and does not come back on untill I turn the car off and back on. help

Are you saying the amp turns off as in no power at all or that it goes into protection mode?

Is this a new install or has the system been working fine for awhile and this problem just started?

Can you give us model numbers of the subs and amp?

If your power wire is too thin, or your ground is bad, your amp might shut down once it starts "working hard". Those aren't the only things that could cause your symptoms, but they would be toward the top of my suspect list.

Well it goes in to protection mode and I did the research the sub deliver 4ohm and the amp can handle 2ohm -8ohm. Thank you I will try the other suggestions for now.

This is a new install for this car. It the same parts I have had this problem in every car I am sick of it. the model numbers are: Subs: BZP106 4OHM and Amp: XM-2200GTX 2 channel 2 Ohm to 8 Ohm.

A coworker mentioned the the AMP might be getting to hot and to try flipping it over. I am afaid to try this for fear of damaging the amp it self. Isn't this thing suppose to have a fan to cool it?

From what I am told the power wire from the battery of the car is something of a 6 to a 12 gage. but I am not 100%
There's a big difference between 6 gauge and 12 gauge cable.

Just checked your amp out....80amps worth of fuses. 12 gauge cable will definitely not work for that.

But its a Xplode so it might be fine.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I couldn't find the exact info on your subs, but I'm wondering if your subs require more power than your amp is able to handle.

Amp

200 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (250 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms)

500 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

Are you by any chance running it in bridged mode at 2ohms?

Also, I agree with what others have said. You should get a 4 gauge wire kit and redo your power and ground. (Cost you around $30)
